We’re seeking for an experienced Miller Operator to join us, based out of Mt Wellington, Auckland.
With your solid experience operating a cold milling machine, you'll take charge of this powerful piece of equipment to remove asphalt or concrete from road surfaces, paving the way for a fresh new layer to be laid.
As part of the wider surfacing department, the Milling team supports work across the North Island, in small to large scale works including commercial, subdivision, private, industrial developments and major projects.
In addition to the above you will:
Confidently operate the cold milling machine to prepare surfaces for roadworks.
Operator milling controls to adjusting the depth, speed, and pattern of the milling drum with its rows of teeth to uniformly grind away the surface.
Conduct daily inspections and basic maintenance including performing lubrication, replacing worn-out milling teeth on the drum, checking fluid levels and other key components to ensure the machine operates at peak performance.
Provide good communication with the driver and milling ground crews to ensure good coordination of the milling process.
Document work performed, including measurements and any incidents or delays.
Adhere to all Fulton Hogan health and safety standards and policies.
While prior experience is ideal, we're also open to welcoming someone eager to learn the role of a Miller Operator. If you're motivated, have a strong work ethic, and are keen to grow alongside our milling team, we’d love to hear from you. We’ll support you with the necessary licences and training to set you up for success.
We’re looking for someone with:
Experience operating a Cold Milling Machine (Wirtgen Model) for road pavements is preferred
Must hold a Class 1, Class 2 and + WTR is preferred
Able to work both day, nights shifts, weekends and out of region work as required
Have some mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
