About the role
We are seeking a talented leader to manage overall operations and implementation of policies and procedures of the molecular biology / recombinant protein group.
Duties include:
Product & Process Development
Effectively manage the routine production and R&D activities of various recombinant vaccine projects.
Liaise with customers, industry, and stakeholders to meet project deadlines.
Inception and design of new R&D projects.
Implementation of new business and R&D of new projects.
Preparation of reports, documentation, budgets as required.
Contribute to laboratory facility planning and upgrades.
Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level.
Manage laboratory staff schedules.
Organize the service and repair of any laboratory-related equipment malfunctioning or due for service.
Leadership
Drive the progression of the Molecular Biology / Recombinant Protein department priorities in line with company strategies.
Provide guidance, mentorship, and leadership to the Molecular Biology / Recombinant Protein team members.
Provide specialist advice and training to other departments and management on molecular biology, recombinant systems, and protein chemistry as required.
Identify, analyse and develop alternate solutions to problems on a day to day basis.
Provide in-depth training to the Molecular Biology / Recombinant Protein team members to fully understand laboratory processes.

Skills and experience
Post-Graduate or graduate degree in a relevant biological science, ideally with a focus on protein chemistry and/or recombinant systems, molecular biology and microbiology.
Familiarity with cGMP operations.
Ability to analyse data. Logical and analytical approach to problem solving.
Good organisational skills.
Sound knowledge of relevant scientific techniques, procedures and principles.
Demonstrated agility in using different IT systems & technologies.
Ability to develop good working relationships with others. Collaborative mindset and effective communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and to make sound decisions on a day-to-day basis.
Demonstrated superior written, verbal & interpersonal communication skills.
Experience in R&D in the animal health sector, particularly vaccines, is highly desirable.
