Stuff Digital is looking for a Money & Personal Finance Editor to report on and shape the national conversation around personal finance across New Zealand’s most influential content platform. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference by producing impactful, high-quality journalism that informs, empowers, and engages audiences across the country.

In this role, you'll produce money and personal finance reporting that is brimming with personality. You’ll work across a variety of formats including text, video, and audio, ensuring your work reaches audiences wherever they are.

You’ll be imaginative and full of ideas, willing to push boundaries and unique journalism that brings the audience back to find your byline every time you publish a story.

The journalism you produce will be uniquely ‘you’ - brimming with personality, playful and fun as well as informative. Money and Personal Finance may be hard to wrap your head around… you’ll make it easier for all New Zealanders.

You’ll have the chance to collaborate with editors, commercial, marketing, and product teams to ensure your journalism not only informs but contributes to wider strategic goals like audience growth, digital innovation, and reader engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Pitch, research, and produce original and engaging reporting on money and personal finance issues that resonate with a broad New Zealand audience.

Deliver high-quality journalism across platforms, including web, audio, video, and social media.

Spot and follow up emerging financial/money trends, breaking news, and consumer issues.

Contribute to major editorial projects, investigations, and campaigns that drive public interest and engagement.

Use audience insights and analytics to shape story angles and maximise reach.

Collaborate with teams across Stuff to develop content that supports editorial and membership goals.

Uphold strong journalistic standards including accuracy, fairness, and legal compliance.

What We’re Looking For

An experienced or buddying journalist with an interest in all things money

Proven ability to produce content brimming with personality that engages an audience.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced digital newsroom and producing content in multiple formats.

Excellent writing, interviewing, and research skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including cross-functional collaboration.

A clear understanding of audience needs and how to meet them with accessible, informative content.

A commitment to journalism that serves the public interest and reflects high ethical standards.

Familiarity with media law and digital publishing tools is an advantage.
