Mongo DB Engineer

As a MongoDB Database Administrator you will be working in project teams designing, building and maintaining MongoDB databases and infrastructure to provide strong business solutions. You will be involved at all stages from design, build to the support of both non-production and production environments. We are creating a learning culture at NBS and ongoing development is important and the opportunity to increase skills in technologies is encouraged. As a part of this role you will have the opportunity to join our many communities to share ideas and collaborate with other professional engineers.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Nationwide House, Bournemouth, Portman House or our London, Threadneedle Street offices. What you’ll be doing

Working within the delivery teams you will work collaboratively with others to build the best solutions for Nationwide using your technical leadership skills and SME knowledge to offer advice/consultancy, build systems and work through problems to provide solid working solutions within the Mongo DB space.

You may be required to work on-call from time to time.

About you

You will have a proven track record in providing technical delivery through the design, build and implementation of MongoDB and you will have in depth knowledge & experience of the following:
• Configuring and supporting OpsManager for Backups and Deployments.
• Understanding of MongoDB architecture, replication and sharding.
• Supporting document based JSON data structures, exporting and importing documents.
• Assisting development and testing teams with troubleshooting within MongoDB and tuning performance, application workload and index recommendations.
• Assist in deploying and configuring MongoDB in Linux, specifically Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

You'll also:
• Be comfortable working across multiple projects and immersing yourself in a team.
• Be ready to share your expertise with our emerging talent
• Build good working relationships with both technical and business stakeholders, gaining their respect and trust based on your knowledge and professionalism.
• Have the ability and desire to quickly learn new technologies.
