We are in need of a Part time Monitoring Officer for our facility in Kitchener.

Work to grow and gain experience working in Correctional Services combined in a Retirement home. Obtain direct experience in the Criminal Justice field working in your community.

We have a part time line available with a guaranteed 24 hours weekly and options to pick up additional hours as required by operational need.

Preference will be given to those who are available to work a variety of shift hours, specifically overnights and weekends. Shifts are available 7am - 7pm and 7pm - 7am. You must have previous security experience or relevant education or a combination of both to be considered. You must have a valid Criminal Record Check - Vulnerable Sectors and you will be asked to provide Fingerprints for enhanced security clearance.

Murray's Millwood Manor is a Community Residential Facility and Retirement home. Our Monitoring Officers provide a safe and secure environment to the residents, staff and community stakeholders. This is a multi-populated residential facility geared towards Seniors and those who are diagnosed with health issues as well as individuals with a history of homelessness and persons involved with the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities and Duties

The following identifies the standard expected duties of a Monitoring Officer at Millwood Manor but are not limited to:

Communication - Monitoring Officers are the first point of contact at Millwood Manor for residents, staff and the community. Interacting may be stressful and confrontational and officers must be able to deal with these confrontations in a polite, courteous and professional manner.

Crisis Response - Officers must respond to crisis situations and handle them as per policies and procedures in a timely manner.

Observe, Document and Report - Log Reporting – Officers must maintain a logbook which describes activities occurring throughout the facility and in the community in a concise and accurate manner. Officers must also provide Incident Reports and report to their supervisor in a timely manner.

Patrols – Officers are responsible to complete parameter checks, facility checks and well being checks to ensure that the site and residents remain safe and secure.

This is a unionized position, wages are set as per CBA based on length of employment.

Pay: $20.00-$22.50 per hour

Evening shift

Night shift

Weekends as needed
