Summary
We are looking for a person who possesses love, patience, and respect for children. This Montessori Directress must be able to observe children and determine which presentations and materials would be suitable for their strengths, interests, and capabilities. The teacher must strive to develop a love of learning in all children in her care. She/he will instruct children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth by performing the following duties:
· Provide the children with a “prepared environment” which includes making materials to support individual needs within the classroom
· Plan individual and/or group lessons
· Instruct children in each area of the classroom: giving presentations and lessons in each area including Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, and Culture
· Model and share Grace and Courtesy lessons
· Self-regulate to ensure no intervention in allowing children to develop concentration
· Allow children to be as independent as possible
· Care of the environment and of self
· Identify, select, and modify work in the room to meet the needs of children with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
· Record progress of each child through tracking observations and individual planning
· Follows Positive Behaviour Guidance as outlined in our school policy
· Conduct parent/teacher interviews and communicate regularly with families
· Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, families, and coworkers
· Participate in all parent workshops and school programs
· Responsible for diaper changing and/or assisting with toileting while demonstrating respect for the child
· Clean and sanitize the environment to maintain the classroom and materials
· Adheres to all policies and procedures
· Maintains a high level of professionalism at all times
· Openly receives children with warmth and focuses on building connections
· Maintains knowledge, skills and abilities through on-going education and attends professional development courses and workshops
Education
A MACTE-accredited Montessori ECE Diploma
RECE
An Undergraduate Degree or College Diploma
Mandatory Requirements
Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Certification
Updated Immunization
Current TB Screening
Criminal Reference Check (Vulnerable Sector)
Immediate Availability
Full-time hours: 40 Hours per week
COVID-19 considerations:
