The Ministry of Justice is responsible for providing a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan; promotes safe and secure communities; and provides legal and justice policy advice to assist government.

The Courts and Community Justice Division has a challenging opportunity for a well-organized, motivated, and experienced individual as Moose Jaw Drug Treatment Court Coordinator. In this position, you will coordinate and provide support for the Moose Jaw Drug Treatment Court (MJDTC).

Reporting to the Director, Therapeutic Courts, you will:

Act as the liaison for and work collaboratively with the Moose Jaw Drug Treatment Court (MJDTC) team comprised of the Judge, Crown prosecutor, defence lawyers, probation officer, and treatment providers.
Attend court and take a lead role at team meetings.
Work with MJDTC participants including intake assessment/screening, program orientation, and regular contact with participants including check ins as necessary.
Set a day-programming schedule for participants which includes identifying external agencies to serve the needs of participants as well as facilitating approved programming to participants.
Identify resources needed to implement and enhance the goals and objectives of the program.
Maintain accurate records, gather data, prepare reports, and deliver presentations on the MJDTC to a variety of audiences.
Our candidate of choice will have:

An in-depth understanding of the justice system and thorough knowledge on drug treatment courts including legal terminology, programs, policies, protocols, and procedures as they apply to drug treatment courts.
Knowledge of theories and practices in the area of addictions and criminal thinking, including trauma informed approaches.
Knowledge of social issues such as diversity, poverty, systemic and socio-economic barriers and how they impact people.
Experience working in the area of addictions.
At least two years’ experience in successful relationship building with an array of stakeholders.
In-depth understanding of collaborative processes and strong mediation skills including the ability to listen and clarify concerns and respond appropriately to clients and stakeholders.
Effective written and oral communication skills, including giving presentations and group facilitation.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Organizational skills, including flexibility to handle multiple priorities.
The ability to be innovative and proactive in order to develop creative solutions to anticipated or actual barriers to improvement in the area of drug treatment courts.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in computer programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office programs.
Typically, the knowledge and experience required for this position would be acquired through:

A degree in the social sciences or diploma in addictions or equivalent experience with an in-depth understanding of addictions.
Experience working in the area of addictions.
Several years’ experience working with an array of stakeholders (e.g., offenders, justice system personnel, treatment providers, community-based organizations).
Previous experience working in a drug treatment court would be an asset.
Previous experience facilitating groups would be an asset.
