Job Description
We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester/Mechanic to join our automotive team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT inspections and performing a variety of mechanical repairs and maintenance tasks. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle systems, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
Conduct MOT tests in accordance with legal and safety standards, accurately assessing vehicle condition.
Perform routine vehicle repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance including brake checks, tyre replacements, and engine diagnostics.
Use hand tools and power tools to carry out repairs efficiently and safely.
Assist with vehicle inspections, identifying faults and recommending appropriate remedial actions.
Maintain detailed records of work carried out, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Ensure all work is completed within specified timeframes while maintaining high quality standards.
Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times, promoting a safe working environment.
Requirements
Proven experience as an MOT Tester or Mechanic with relevant qualifications recognised by the DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency).
Strong mechanical knowledge across a range of vehicle makes and models.
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for repair tasks.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment.
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and inspection procedures.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop environment.
