Groove Academy is a Winnipeg music school offering in-studio lessons for students aged 3 through adult. We prepare our students for regular performances and competitions, and we're proud of the standard of teaching that makes that possible.
Summary
We're growing our teaching roster and hiring music instructors across multiple instruments. We're currently looking for teachers in:
Voice (with piano as a secondary instrument)
Violin (with piano as a secondary instrument)
Piano
Drums
Woodwinds — flute, saxophone, clarinet
You'll teach private 1-on-1 lessons (and the occasional group class) to students ranging from age 3 to adult, helping them grow technically and musically — and preparing them for recitals, festivals, exams, and competitions. We schedule around your availability, so this works whether you're looking for a few key time slots or a full teaching week.
Responsibilities
Teach private 1-on-1 lessons in your instrument(s) to students aged 3–adult
Build personalized lesson plans based on each student's goals, level, and learning style
Prepare students for recitals, performances, festivals, exams, and competitions
Provide consistent, encouraging feedback to students and parents
Track student progress and adjust pacing as needed
Inherit existing students and build your own roster as new students enroll
Show up on time, prepared, and ready to teach with energy!
Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in your primary instrument
Strong fundamentals and the ability to teach across genres and styles
Comfortable teaching across a wide age range (3 to adult)
Experience preparing students for performances, exams, or competitions is a strong asset
Patient, encouraging, and able to adapt your teaching style to different learners
Reliable and professional — students and families count on consistency
Comfortable working as an independent subcontractor
Willing to complete a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and a Child Abuse Registry Check (we'll point you in the right direction if you don't have these yet)
