Summary

We are seeking a passionate Music Teacher to join our team and inspire students with the love of music. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and a strong background in music education.

Reporting directly to the Principal, the Music Teacher/Director is a guide who helps direct their students’ creativity and artistic abilities in a prepared environment which challenges each child to reach his/her potential in these developmental areas, in accordance with Montessori and Arts philosophy and procedures.

1. Responsibilities:

a. The Employee shall be bound by and shall faithfully observe and aide by all the rules and regulations of the Employer, as set out in the School Policy & Procedure manual and Employee Handbook which the employee acknowledges having read, understood, and thereby signed.

b. Meet the emotional, intellectual, and social needs of each child in his/her class, providing a Montessori music education to children + months to 12 years of age.

c. Plan and implement a full and varied Music curriculum prepared in writing, organized into composition and theory, vocal instruction, and instrumentation units. For the Infant to PreCasa classes, a full and varied Music curriculum that embodies music and movement, rhythm, and sound.

d. Plan, coordinate and execute the Winter Concert in Term 1 and the Spring Concert in Term 2.

e. Assist with outdoor supervision of Casa Recess.

f. Work in close communication and collaboration with other Directresses and/or Assistants to ensure a collaborative and positive professional relationship.

g. Create and maintain a welcoming, positive, prepared environment; refreshing materials offered to the children frequently.

h. Continuously identify children’s individual needs through observation, individual instruction and recording of daily anecdotal notes, and work with the Directresses/Assistants to meet each child’s needs. i. Conduct parent/teacher conferences once to twice a year, accompanied by two formal written report cards per year and one progress report.

j. Assist in assemblies and special events as required k. Attend all staff meetings even those scheduled outside of regular hours when required

l. Conduct one afterschool club (of your choice) for a 6-week period from 3:30 to 4:15 pm on a day of your choosing. The club should be for school age students and related to Music, for example Choir.
