Primary objective
Provide high level administrative and coordination services to support the National and Systemic Assessment (NaSA) team in the
implementation of the National Assessment Program (NAP) and systemic assessments in the Northern Territory (NT) Transition to
Year 10. NaSA have data collection and reporting responsibilities at student, school and system levels to a variety of internal and
external stakeholders. The team collects, accesses, and analyses a variety of educational data sets to support tracking, reporting
and continuous improvement in NT education.
Context statement
Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) provides evidence-based differentiated services and support to preschools and schools to
maximise outcomes for Territory children and young people. Our services encompass quality teaching and learning, national and
systemic assessment, transition to boarding school support and policy coordination. TLS also plays a strategic role in implementing
government priorities, offering expert advice to the Education Minister and the department’s senior executives. We enhance our
work by actively engaging with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure best outcomes for all our clients.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Work collaboratively and maintain performance in an achievement focused culture.
2. Provide high level administrative support to the NaSA team, including supporting financial, human resources, travel approval
and procurement processes by working with other business units, across divisions and with external stakeholders.
3. Assist leadership teams through the preparation and maintenance of project documentation including project plans and status
reports.
4. Gather confidential data to meet ongoing reporting requirements, including freedom of information requests.
5. Write procedural documents to record and communicate processes and progress.
6. Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with stakeholders and clients to progress team business and ensure efficient
and effective responses to issues and requests.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Organisational skills of a very high order including proven ability to deliver successful outcomes while working with competing
priorities and demands and critical deadlines.
2. Proven experience successfully providing high level administrative support to operational teams and projects, including
governance, human resources and finance, and use of software tools particularly Microsoft Office Suite and national and
systemic assessment systems used in the NT.
3. Demonstrated sound oral and written communication skills including the ability to translate complex data and matters into
succinct and meaningful forms for use by others; communicate effectively orally and in writing with stakeholders including
school and system leaders while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and accountability.
Desirable
1. Formal qualifications in a related discipline such project management or business administration.
2. Knowledge of NT government or Department of Education and Training processes and systems.
