Role Objective (Read Carefully)
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for securing confirmed purchase orders from Indian buyers who can provide advance payments and converting buyer relationships into executed international trade transactions with positive margins.
This is a purely revenue and execution-driven role.
Lead generation without paid deal closure is not acceptable.
Non-Negotiable Commercial PolicyNo commodity shall be released, loaded, or shipped unless advance payment or ONPL-approved secured payment instruments are fully received and confirmed. No exceptions.
The BDM has no authority to promise, request, or imply post-shipment or credit-based payment terms.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuyer Identification & Order Closure
• Identify, approach, and onboard creditworthy Indian buyers, including:
• Importers & commodity traders
• Dal millers & processors
• Feed manufacturers
• FMCG raw material buyers
• Bulk distributors
• Generate confirmed Purchase Orders (POs) for:
• Urad Dal
• Black Matpe
• Soyabean (Non-GMO)
• Sesame Seeds
• Other agri-commodities handled by ONPL
• Secure advance payments or secured trade instruments, including:
• Partial or full advance TT
• LC at Sight
• Other ONPL-approved mechanisms
Commercial Execution Discipline
• Negotiate price, volume, delivery schedules, Incoterms, and payment terms strictly within ONPL policies.
• Ensure buyer KYC, compliance approval, and payment confirmation before execution.
• Coordinate with trade, logistics, and documentation teams only after advance payment confirmation.
• Support post-shipment commercial coordination, including quality or documentation issues, as required.
Market Intelligence & Relationship Management
• Build and maintain a pipeline of repeat buyers and long-term trade relationships.
• Track Indian market pricing, seasonality, demand trends, and competitor activity.
• Ensure commercial discipline, margin quality, and execution reliability.
Advance Payment & Accountability
The BDM is directly accountable for:
• Buyer payment commitment
• Advance payment realization
• Margin discipline
• Successful deal execution
POs without advance payment are not considered valid performance output.
Required Experience & Skills
• 3–7 years experience in:
• Agri-commodity trading
• Import/export sales
• B2B commodity marketing
• Indian agricultural procurement
• Proven record of executed trades with advance payments.
• Strong Indian buyer network for pulses and oilseeds.
• Practical understanding of:
• International trade documentation
• Incoterms
• Payment structures (Advance, LC at Sight, TT, DP)
• Quality specifications and compliance
• Strong negotiation and commercial judgement.
• Self-driven, execution-oriented, and margin-focused.
Compensation & Commission (Margin-Based)
• Competitive fixed salary
• Commission calculated strictly on NET REALISED MARGIN, not volume or PO value
Commission Rules
• Commission is payable only when:
• Advance payment is received and credited
• Shipment is executed
• Trade results in positive net margin
• No commission on:
• Leads
• Unpaid or credit-based POs
• Zero or negative margin trades
• A portion of commission may be held back to cover post-shipment claims and released upon final trade closure.
Governance & Legal Obligations
• Subject to:
• Confidentiality (NDA)
• Non-solicitation of ONPL buyers
• Conflict-of-interest restrictions
• No parallel trading or representation of competing firms.
• Pricing, margins, and final trade confirmation remain subject to management approval.
• Role includes a probation period with performance-based confirmation.
