About the role
As the National Linehaul Manager at SwiftLine, you will play a critical role in overseeing the movement of freight across the company's extensive national network. Based in our West Melbourne office, this full-time position will see you responsible for managing a team of linehaul coordinators to ensure the seamless delivery of goods from origin to destination.
What you'll be doing
Oversee and manage SwiftLine’s national linehaul network across all major corridors
Plan, optimise and execute daily linehaul schedules to maximise fleet utilisation
Actively reduce (empty runs) through strategic backloading and network balancing
Identify and implement cost-effective transport solutions across internal fleet and subcontractor network
Monitor and manage linehaul costs including fuel, subcontractor rates, and route efficiency
Work closely with operations, allocators, and customers to ensure service levels are consistently met
Analyse network performance and provide actionable insights to improve profitability
Manage carrier and subcontractor relationships, ensuring compliance and performance standards
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across routing, load planning, and transit times

What we're looking for
Significant experience in a senior fleet management or logistics operations role, ideally within the transport and logistics industry
Demonstrated expertise in optimising linehaul operations and implementing strategies to improve efficiency and productivity
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels
A proven track record of leading and motivating teams to achieve operational excellence
Thorough understanding of relevant industry regulations, safety standards and compliance requirements
Tertiary qualifications in logistics, supply chain management or a related field would be highly regarded
