The Role: Naval Architect

We’re seeking a motivated Naval Architect to join our Above Water Systems team at Garden Island. Working with limited supervision, you'll support the RMP-E program by providing technical advice, reviewing maintenance work instructions, and ensuring alignment with operational and configuration standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and approve maintenance work instructions and defect investigations

Provide expert advice on operational and maintenance products across the RMC-E Enterprise

Assess and mark up design drawings where ship conditions vary from the baseline

Support ECP incorporations during installation and compliance activities

Contribute to maintenance planning and configuration accuracy

Assist Technical Writers with content accuracy and document quality

Your Skills and Experience:

Degree in Naval Architecture with 3+ years' experience in Defence or maritime projects

Eligible for membership with IEAust or RINA

Understanding of ship structures and platform systems, including relevant rules and codes

Problem-solving skills and ability to assess technical alternatives

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities

Fluent in both written and spoken English
