Job Description: Software Development Engineer II (SDE II)
Location: Gurugram
Experience: 3-6 Years
Reports To: Senior Engineering Manager
About the Role
We are looking for a Backend Engineer who thinks like an Architect. You won't just be picking up tickets; you will be solving complex distributed system problems for a multi-platform ecosystem (Mobile, Web, and Internal Tools). We operate in a high-trust, high-accountability environment where Technical Design Documents (RFCs) come before code, and "it works on my machine" is never an acceptable answer.
If you care about Data Consistency, Idempotency, and building systems that survive production spikes, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
• Design & Architecture: Lead the design of complex features by writing detailed RFCs / Design Docs before implementation. You will define schema, API contracts, and async flows.
• Core Development: Build scalable Microservices using Node.js and NestJS. You will own features end-to-end, from database design to deployment.
• Distributed Systems Engineering: Implement robust event-driven architectures using RabbitMQ/Kafka, ensuring data consistency across services.
• Quality & Mentorship: Act as a gatekeeper for code quality. You will conduct rigorous code reviews, ensuring the team adheres to "Zero Technical Debt" principles.
• Observability: Don't just log errors. Instrument your code with Prometheus/Grafana to monitor latency, throughput, and resource usage in real-time.
• Agile Leadership: Break down vague requirements into technical tasks (Stories) in Azure DevOps. Proactively flag blockers and communicate risks to management.
What You Need (The Hard Skills)
• Expert Proficiency in Node.js & NestJS: You know the framework inside out, including dependency injection, decorators, and middleware.
• Database Mastery:
• PostgreSQL: Advanced SQL, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
• MongoDB: Schema design for scale and aggregation pipelines.
• Redis: Caching strategies (Write-through vs. Look-aside) and Pub/Sub.
• System Design: Deep understanding of Microservices, REST, GraphQL, and Socket.io. You know when to use HTTP vs. Event Bus.
• Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Docker and Cloud Platforms (AWS/Azure). You understand how your code runs in a containerized environment.
• Security: Strong grasp of OWASP Top 10 and secure coding practices (Sanitization, JWT, Rate Limiting).
The "X-Factor" (Behavioral Competencies)
• The "Boy Scout Rule": You have a visceral reaction to bad code. You refactor as you go, leaving the codebase cleaner than you found it.
• Client-Agnostic Thinking: You understand that your API serves multiple consumers (Flutter Mobile, React Web, Internal Scripts). You design generic, reusable payloads.
• Extreme Ownership: You don't blame "DevOps" or "QA." If your code breaks in production, you own the fix and the post-mortem.
• Communication: You speak up. If a timeline is unrealistic or a requirement is ambiguous, you flag it immediately—not two days before the deadline.
