Job Title: Non-Employee Benefits Underwriter
Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Non-Employee Benefits Underwriter with 2-3 years of experience in underwriting various insurance products outside the scope of employee benefits. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating risks, determining appropriate coverage, and making informed decisions on a variety of insurance policies. Your expertise will ensure that we maintain a profitable and balanced portfolio while meeting the needs of our clients.
Responsibilities:
• Risk Assessment: Evaluate insurance applications for non-employee benefits products, such as property, casualty, liability, and specialty lines. Analyze risk factors including financial stability, loss history, and industry-specific exposures.
• Underwriting Decisions: Determine appropriate coverage, premiums, and policy terms by adhering to underwriting guidelines and considering factors such as risk tolerance, market conditions, and company profitability goals.
• Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of non-employee benefits policies, ensuring that the business written is profitable and aligned with company objectives. Monitor and review existing policies for renewal and adjust terms as necessary.
• Client and Broker Relationships: Work closely with brokers, agents, and clients to gather additional information, negotiate terms, and provide recommendations on risk management and coverage options.
• Policy Documentation: Prepare and issue policy documents, endorsements, and other related documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in underwriting non-employee benefits insurance products.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and internal teams.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
