About the role

At the City of Melbourne, our Community Wellbeing branch is dedicated to fostering a socially inclusive community where wellbeing, belonging and participation are central to quality of life. We deliver meaningful services that support children, families and communities to live healthy, connected and fulfilling lives.

Our Children’s Services team provides high-quality education and care to over 200 children each week across Council-operated centres and partner sites. We are now seeking an experienced and passionate Educational Leader to help shape exceptional early learning outcomes.

A little more about the role

As the Children’s Centre Educational Leader, you will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality, play-based learning programs and driving continuous improvement across the Centre.

Lead pedagogical practice and embed the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards (NQS)
Mentor and support educators to deliver inclusive, engaging and developmentally appropriate programs
Champion a culture of reflection, learning and continuous improvement
Partner with families and the community to support children’s learning and wellbeing
Contribute to the day-to-day operations of the Centre, including stepping into leadership when required
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll directly influence educator capability, program quality and outcomes for children and families.

What your experience might look like - Key Selection Criteria

Bachelor qualification in Early Childhood Education
Current VIT registration
Strong knowledge of the National Quality Framework, Standards and Regulations
Experience in mentoring, coaching and leading educators
Excellent communication skills and ability to engage diverse communities
Commitment to child safety, wellbeing and inclusive practice
