What will you be doing!

Coordinating and performing independent technical reviews for the Safety Review Committee (SRC).
Engaging with stakeholders such as Facility Authorities and Facility Managers and receiving submissions to the SRC for independent technical review of nuclear safety and nuclear facilities decommissioning-related documentation.
Supporting the Manager, SRC Reviews with setting up meetings for SRC technical reviewers and coordinating the performance of the independent technical review of submissions to the SRC.
Consolidating review comments from independent technical reviewers and communicating consolidated comments to the stakeholders following the SRC review via a technical memorandum.
Interacting with stakeholders and assisting them when requests for clarification of SRC comments arise. Facilitating such requests with meetings with SRC reviewers as needed. Facilitating engagement between stakeholders and SRC technical reviewers to build consensus in finalizing agreed-upon dispositions to SRC review comments. Engaging the Manager, SRC Reviews, as needed.
Receiving finalized and agreed-upon dispositions to SRC comments from stakeholders, providing those dispositions to the Manager, SRC Reviews and SRC technical reviewers, and securing acceptance of dispositions received.
Supporting the Manager, SRC Reviews with providing formal SRC acceptance, via memorandum, of stakeholder submissions once all SRC review comments are dispositioned.
Coordinating and performing independent technical reviews for the Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) Panel.
Working with the Compliance Business Administrator to schedule regular quarterly meetings of the NCS Panel, receiving submissions from stakeholders such as Facility Authorities, Facility Managers and the NCS Program for such meetings, organizing the submissions in the NCS Panel SharePoint site, preparing meeting agenda, and providing the agenda and material for review to NCS Panel Members two weeks prior to each quarterly meeting.
Working with stakeholders to receive submissions and schedule special meetings of the NCS Panel to facilitate urgent review of nuclear-criticality-safety-related documentation outside of the regular quarterly meetings.
Consolidating review comments from independent technical reviewers of the NCS Panel following NCS Panel review, and assisting the NCS Panel Chair in communicating consolidated comments to the stakeholders via a technical memorandum.
Interacting with stakeholders and assisting them when requests for clarification of NCS Panel comments arise. Facilitating such requests with meetings with NCS Panel reviewers as needed. Facilitating engagement between stakeholders and NCS Panel reviewers to build consensus in finalizing agreed-upon dispositions to NCS Panel review comments. Providing support to the Manager, Regulatory Affairs and the Regulatory Affairs Department.
Reviewing documentation such as Licensing Basis documents, Licensing Plan documents, and other documents of a regulatory nature that are relevant to nuclear safety and licensing, when requested.
Providing regulatory assistance and guidance to CNL, especially to Designated Representatives of the Licensee, when requested.
Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

Education
A Bachelor (Honours) in Engineering or Science (associated with Nuclear Engineering), from a university of recognized standing, is required. An honours degree in Nuclear Engineering is preferred, or an advanced degree in nuclear engineering is an asset. Or a membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualifications for membership in that organization.
Experience
Significant related experience in a mix of the following areas is required:
Nuclear facilities design.
Nuclear facilities operation.
Nuclear safety analysis.
Nuclear technology and related processes.
Nuclear criticality safety.
Experience in nuclear safety analysis and nuclear criticality safety will be weighted over other areas of expertise when evaluating candidates for the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to convey information accurately with discretion and diplomacy, are required.
Effective time management skills, recognizing that simultaneous submissions from multiple stakeholders.
Ability to evaluate and prioritize competing demands, provide the rationale for prioritization to the Manager, SRC Reviews, and stakeholders, and adapt based on feedback from stakeholders.
A sound understanding of nuclear safety and experience with nuclear safety analysis to effectively support the SRC Reviews Manager and the SRC Secretariat with independent technical reviews of CNL facilities and activities related to the SRC mandate is required.
A thorough technical understanding of nuclear criticality safety principles and practices, as demonstrated through either a degree in nuclear engineering or work experience in nuclear criticality safety, is required.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required
Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
