Position Description
We are currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our Cardiac Neurodevelopment Program and Neonatal Neurology Service.
In this role, you will be a member of the Heart Centre serving our Cardiac Neurodevelopment Program and Neonatal Neurology Service! This innovative program ensures comprehensive neurologic and neurodevelopmental care for children with acquired and congenital heart disease.
Our Mission is to:
1) Prevent and manage neonatal brain injury: our team is dedicated to protecting vulnerable brains in critically unwell children with heart disease;
2) Assess and Improve Long-term Neurodevelopmental Outcomes: We focus on evaluating and enhancing the physical, mental, and cognitive health of children with heart disease;
3) Collaborate and Integrate Services: We support the seamless integration of neurodevelopmental care services across SickKids and its partner organizations, benefiting patients and their families.

Working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary Health Care team, Nurse Practitioners at SickKids have the opportunity to provide expertise in the areas of:
Clinical Practice
Education, Mentorship, and Research
Leadership and Organizational & Systems Management
Here's what you'll get to do
Be responsible for the provision of comprehensive health care, with a focus on brain health, to cardiac neurology patients in both an inpatient and outpatient setting
Integrate nursing and medical skills and knowledge within a broad scope of advanced nursing practice to manage infants with brain injury and seizures
Collaborate with the broader multidisciplinary team; including rehabilitation services, psychology, nursing
Assume a leadership role in influencing clinical practice and the provision of care
Integrate research into practice
Create, utilize and/or disseminate new knowledge
Identify and link to services and resources in community
Here's what you'll need
Master¿s of Nursing or equivalent with a clinical focus
Completion of a Paediatric Nurse Practitioner program or equivalent
Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, within the RN (Extended Class)
A minimum of three¿years of clinical nursing experience in paediatrics
Previous experience in a leadership role an asset
Ability to act as a change agent, and foster teamwork and consensus
Innovative critical thinking with excellent communication, public speaking and problem solving skills
Knowledge of theoretical frameworks and research application
A commitment to understanding and aiding in the pursuit of equity, diversity & inclusion
