About the Role:
This position involves providing expert clinical advice and support to Registered Nurse-Authorized Prescribers (RN-APs) within the framework of quality & risk management and the standards of practice set by the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (NSCN).
The successful candidate will be responsible for preceptorship, mentorship, and education of RN-APs, as well as contributing to policy development related to collaborative practice.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice:
Provide comprehensive health assessments, diagnose health conditions, and develop treatment plans.
Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, as authorized by Nova Scotia legislation.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
Perform procedures within the NP scope of practice.
Collaboration and Consultation:
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with RN-APs and other healthcare providers.
Provide expert clinical advice and support to RN-APs.
Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences and care planning meetings if required.
Preceptorship and Education:
Serve as a clinical preceptor for VON RN-AP students if needed.
Guide RN-AP students through hands-on learning experiences.
Requirements:
Masters degree in Nursing-Advanced Practice Stream required.
Current certification in BCLS.
Current registration with NSCN with active practicing status, with license as NP in NS.
Minimum 5 years of advanced clinical practice experience.
Experience in collaborative practice and consultation.
