Job Description

As an already qualified Nurse, you’ll primarily work in the Army’s deployable health units providing primary healthcare support to Army members. You may also work in primary healthcare facilities, in-patient facilities as well as in training, health management, administration and command, and leadership.

You’ll have the opportunity to perform a range of tasks that will challenge and develop your skills and broaden your professional horizon. You’ll provide primary healthcare, in-patient care and resuscitation support in a variety of settings from Army bases to deployed pre-hospital settings and field hospitals. You may also work in the Army’s certified surgical field hospital that will deploy during combat, peacekeeping and humanitarian relief operations.

Your Military duties include, but aren’t limited to:

providing expert clinical knowledge
providing primary health and in-patient care in a variety of environments
assisting in the planning and deployment of a health team on operations
coordinating the clinical training of health care professionals
supporting the health needs of ADF members
working across multidisciplinary teams.
Location

Following your initial military training in Canberra and employment training in Victoria, you could be posted to one of the many locations across Australia. As a Nurse, initial postings are likely to be to Brisbane, Darwin and Townsville.

Salary:

On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you’ll enjoy a package starting from $+3,+73 per annum.

Eligibility:

For this role, you must:

Be at least 17 years of age when you enter the ADF
Be an Australian citizen. If you are not an Australian Citizen you may still be eligible to join the ADF if you meet certain criteria, please visit the ADF Careers Eligibility Page for more details
Be reasonably fit and healthy. Keeping fit is a big part of joining the ADF. You’ll need to pass a physical fitness test before you join, but don’t worry, we'll give you tips to help you prepare
Be able to successfully obtain a security clearance
Be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse (DIV 1), General
Have completed two years recent post-graduate experience in emergency or acute care settings
