About the team?

The GWR Occupational Health and Wellbeing team are made up of qualified occupational health specialist nurses, occupational health technicians, physicians, physiotherapists, and administrators. We have three centres: Reading, Plymouth, and Swindon. We also have a bespoke mobile unit that operates mainly in the west region. Our function is to ensure that colleagues are fit for work in line with set industry standards and that work does not adversely affect the colleagues' health. The team are professional, dynamic, and forward thinking. We currently have an exciting opportunity for an occupational health technician to join our team.

This is a great opportunity for a someone to join our Occupational Health team as either a trained or trainee occupational health technician.

Our aim is to deliver occupational health best practice and make a measurable difference to the health of our employees. Our people are the key to success and we require a highly effective candidate that has the natural ability to work both independently and as part of a great team.

The role is based in our Reading Occupational Health Clinic but there will be some requirement to travel to other sites. The technician will conduct safety critical medicals, health surveillance medicals, and engage with various health promotion and wellbeing activities.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Undertaking health screening procedures in accordance with company protocols.

• Carrying out Drug and ******* testing.

• Carrying out fitness for work medicals.

• Health surveillance screening including audiometry and lung function testing.

• Health promotion activities and wellbeing activities.

• Ensuring all medical information is accurately recorded.

• Ensuring all equipment is serviceable, clean and fit for purpose.

• Providing support to the occupational health team to keep our operations running smoothy and effectively.

• Undertaking additional tasks as requested.

• Being an active member of the Occupational Health team and promoting a positive working environment.

You'll need to be:

• Knowledge of occupational health and/or a healthcare background would be desirable although training will be given.

• Flexible, a genuine commitment to health and well-being, and a can-do attitude are essential.

• Ability to work effectively independently and also within a team framework.

• Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively.

• Good interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral.

• An enthusiastic and inspiring role model grounded in practice.

• Innovative and adaptable.

About the location:

This role will be based in the Reading Occupational Health Clinic but there will be some requirement to travel to other sites.

Working Pattern?

This is a full-time role, 5 days/week. Some travel and off-site working will be required therefore a degree of flexibility is needed. Train travel is provided.
