Job Description
Objective:
This position exists to develop and execute automated tests in order to identify software problems and improve testing efficiencies.
Accountabilities:
The incumbent is accountable for testing deliverables within one or more disciplines, on medium to large sized projects with moderate to high complexity. Specific accountabilities are documented through automation objectives and may include:
• Provide Concept Sizing
• Develop Technical Assessments
• Develop and execute Test Plans
• Define the Test Strategy for medium to large sized projects within a specific test discipline
• Manage software test deliverables
• Maintain test environments as needed
• Provide input to software quality metrics
• Develop cross-product automation frameworks
• Write automated UI and API tests
• Develop test tools in order to validate code before integration, generate or manipulate test data and improve reporting
• Close interaction with development team to provide test coverage before integration
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience – Degree in Computer Science or Systems Engineering preferred
• Industry certifications (ISTQB, CSTB, Six Sigma, etc.) a plus
• 4 - 10 years experience in 1 or more testing disciplines with commercial, business-oriented software applications
• Ability to work independently
• Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to provide both detail information and also summarize to a management level
• Tenacity; ability to work through problems and reach a solution
• Ability to learn large complex systems
• Ability to work in ambiguous situations
• Ability to setup and maintain test environments
• Proven problem-solving and technical debugging skills
• Understanding of software quality management principles (tracking, analyzing, reporting, problem
• resolution and training).
• Understanding of software development and maintenance processes and methods.
• Understanding of project management principles and techniques as they relate to software project planning, implementation and tracking.
• Understanding of software test automation concepts
• Understanding of software inspection, testing, verification and validation techniques.
• Understanding of configuration management processes to include planning, configuration identification, configuration control, change management, status accounting and reporting.
• Ability to work with resources in remote locations.
