Full job description
San Jose Office has an opening, for a Permanent, Full-time Office Assistant (Typing) position. The Office Assistant will be under the supervision of the Office Services Supervisor II and will perform a variety of clerical duties related to the Receptionist Desk. Under the general supervision of the area’s Office Services Supervisor II, the Office Assistant is responsible for courteously and professionally answer and screen incoming telephone calls from the public, other area offices, and allied agencies. Greet and assist visitors at the reception counter directing them to the proper area personnel. Schedule child car seat and VIN appointments; provide subpoena service and assist vendors for deliveries. Process outgoing mail, assist with incoming mail, accept and sign for incoming mail/packages via the United States Postal Service or couriers. Ensure items sold are only released to a proper party of interest. The receptionist is responsible for miscellaneous sales such as accidents reports, arrest reports and Public Records Act (PRA), and stored vehicle reports or publications.

In-Office, Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Special Requirements
The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) serves as documentation of each applicant’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Each question must be numbered and addressed in the same order as the questions below. The SOQ must be typed, no more than two pages in length, and 12-point Arial font.
