Role Responsibilities
Are you ready to take on a leadership role in one of Alberta’s most significant Water Management Iinfrastructure projects? Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager to lead the operations of the Springbank Dam—Alberta’s newest and most advanced flood mitigation project.
Springbank Dam is a critical $800 million infrastructure initiative designed to protect Calgary and surrounding communities from flood events on the Elbow River. Spanning over 16 km and located 15 km west of Calgary, the project includes a complex network of water conveyance and management structures both on and off the Elbow River. With substantial construction now complete, Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation has assumed responsibility for its ongoing operation and maintenance.
The Role:
As the Operations and Infrastructure Manager, you will:
Lead the operation, maintenance, and surveillance of the Springbank Reservoir Dam.
Ensure compliance with regulatory monitoring and reporting requirements.
Collaborate with a team of skilled technologists and report directly to the Director, North Central Operations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, local communities, and industry partners.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
University education (4 years) in Engineering PLUS a minimum of five (5) years of experience in ooperations, maintenance, surveillance of water management infrastructure, regulatory reporting and stakeholder engagement
Required:
Valid class 5 driver’s license
Registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
Assets:
Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation including but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety Act, Alberta Water Act,
Experience in the operations and maintenance of dam, canal and related infrastructure
