Our Financial Crime Operations team plays a critical role in protecting ASB and our customers. We’re now looking for an Onboarding Specialist to join our Customer Verification Services (CVS) function, supporting the onboarding of new customers in line with ASB’s processes and regulatory requirements, based in Christchurch

As an Onboarding Specialist, you’ll be responsible for ensuring customers are onboarded efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with ASB’s onboarding frameworks and regulatory obligations. You’ll work closely with frontline teams and customers, providing clear guidance, robust verification, and a consistently high standard of service.
This is a detail‑focused role that balances customer experience with risk management, requiring strong judgement, organisation, and communication skills.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Supporting frontline teams and customers to open new enterprise accounts in line with ASB onboarding processes, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Collecting, analysing, and verifying customer information from multiple systems and sources to meet KYC, AML/CFT, FATCA and CRS obligations.
Interrogating data to efficiently identify and verify customers, escalating issues where required.
Clearly informing customers about suitable verification documentation and next steps.
Providing effective communication via phone, email, and written correspondence to internal and external customers.
Managing customer information with care, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy legislation and internal policy.
Delivering superior customer service that enhances ASB’s reputation.
Contributing to a positive, collaborative team environment by sharing best practice and supporting colleagues.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a strong service mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work confidently in a regulated environment. You’ll ideally have:
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of AML/CFT, KYC, FATCA and CRS obligations and standards.
Demonstrated commitment to service excellence and quality outcomes.
Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to cope well under pressure and manage the unexpected.
Experience using banking or onboarding systems (e.g. Teller, Onyx) would be an advantage.
A collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute to team goals and continuous improvement.
