Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Curriculum Delivery:

• Teach subject-specific content in line with the MYP framework, which emphasizes inquiry-based learning, global contexts, and developing transferable skills.

• Use the MYP assessment criteria to guide teaching and evaluate student progress.

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

• Assessment and Feedback:

• Assess students regularly using formative and summative assessments.

• Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments and projects.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, including grades and comments, in line with school policies.

• Collaboration and Planning:

• Collaborate with fellow teachers to plan interdisciplinary units, thematic teaching, and projects.

• Attend department meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development sessions.

• Ensure alignment with the MYP framework while also tailoring lessons to meet the needs of individual students.

• Student Support and Guidance:

• Support students in developing self-management skills, such as organization and time management.

• Provide pastoral care and guidance, including promoting social and emotional well-being.

• Encourage student engagement in extracurricular activities related to their subject.

• Promote Inquiry-Based Learning:

• Foster curiosity and a love of learning through project-based and inquiry-based teaching methods.

• Encourage students to ask questions, explore different perspectives, and develop independent thinking.

• Help students connect what they learn to real-world contexts and global issues.

• Classroom Management:

• Maintain a positive and productive learning environment that supports collaboration, creativity, and academic rigor.

• Implement school policies and guidelines regarding behavior, safety, and learning.

• Address and manage any disciplinary issues effectively and with fairness.

• Professional Development:

• Engage in ongoing professional learning and contribute to the improvement of teaching practices within the school.

• Stay up to date with changes in educational trends, especially those related to the IB programme.

• Parent Communication:

• Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s academic progress, behavior, and well-being.

• Respond to parent inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
