The Open Source Intelligence Group, based in Wellington, is seeking suitably skilled people to fill an Open Source Analyst role. This position is crucial to enabling the Group to continue to build on the successes of the past six years and move open source intelligence collection and analysis to the next level.
As an Open Source Intelligence Analyst you will have the curiosity and drive to seek the answers to difficult questions through advanced open source research. You will use your initiative and critical thinking skills to identify and understand the information requirements of the Group's partners, leading to analysis that informs enforcement and prevention initiatives.
You will be comfortable talking to others to build your understanding of policing and Intelligence and work directly with people from a wide range of workgroups. You will present analysis through both written reporting and verbal briefings to a range of audiences.
You will also start/continue your journey of learning and development as a skilled Intelligence professional. As well as demonstrating best practice open source collection and intelligence tradecraft and principles, you will foster a positive and productive team culture. You will hold yourself to a high ethical standard and be diligent about following the compliance and process standards the team observes.
This position would be ideal for individuals with analytical experience wanting the opportunity to broaden their range/experience or for people with a deep passion for open source intelligence looking for an opportunity to deploy their skills. You may be new to New Zealand Police and would like to learn and develop under the guidance of an experienced Intelligence team.
Key Accountabilities:
Develop and maintain a wide range of professional relationships.
Excellent skills in OSINT research and analysis.
Able to navigate complex issues of open source collection and analysis with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Take ownership of delivering timely OSINT products to inform organisational decision making.
Demonstrate successful management of competing priorities and demands.
Contribute to the core intelligence reporting and deliverables of the Open Source Intelligence Group.
Champion diverse worldviews, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, identifying opportunities to reflect these in Intelligence products.

Some travel may be required.
You may occasionally be required to work outside of set work hours and alternative locations for operational reasons. Shift work may be required to meet operational demand.

A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.
