Job Description
To ensure a safe environment for patients, personnel and visitors to the Operating Room suites. To maintain a clean, orderly Operating Room with efficient turnover schedule. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Center.
Report To: EVS Manager, Director of Nursing
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Demonstrates a good knowledge of housekeeping and the guidelines for infectious waste.
Demonstrates ability to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.
Demonstrates ability to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis.
Demonstrates ability to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
Occupational Exposure:
Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.
Responsibilities:
General knowledge of sterile technique.
Is directly responsible for cleaning of all Operating Suites including equipment. Follows established housekeeping guidelines.
Maintains all Surgery Corridors, instrument processing room and sterilization room following accepted guidelines.
Responsible for handling of all trash in the sterile area. Will bag in appropriate bags and follow established guidelines for infectious waste.
Follows proper procedures regarding exposure to Category I tasks.
Follows proper procedures for handling hazardous waste materials.
Responsible for all linen in the Operating Room area, both dirty and clean. This including stocking.
Ability to follow written or oral instructions. Ability to work well with others and to present a neat appearance and pleasant manner.
Takes on additional duties as asked by the Director of Nursing.
Daily cleans and maintains OR storage room where cleaning supplies are kept.
Stocks and maintains scrub sinks and area surrounding.
Assists Material’s Manager with receiving and stocking of supplies in supply room, sterile receiving and operating rooms
