Job Description
This position is responsible for ensuring that surgical cases are properly staffed, organized, and performed according to internal standards of care, patient safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. The Operating Room Supervisor will act as a clinical resource and role model for nursing and surgical staff while supporting smooth case flow and high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
• Supervise, coordinate, and support patient care delivery in the operating room, pre-op, post-op/recovery, and sterile processing areas.
• Prepare schedules for the assigned unit, ensuring coverage for scheduled and add-on cases.
• Coordinate shift activities to maintain high standards of patient care and surgical efficiency.
• Serve as a clinical resource and provide guidance and support to nursing and surgical personnel.
• Assist with performance appraisals, corrective actions, counseling, and staff development.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, patient safety, OSHA, HIPAA, and surgical standards.
• Support sterile processing, room readiness, equipment preparation, and supply availability.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and leadership to improve workflow and communication.
• Participate in patient rounding and promote a professional, compassionate patient experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Registered Nurse license strongly preferred.
• Previous operating room, surgical center, or plastic surgery experience required.
• 3–5 years of perioperative or surgical services experience preferred.
• Prior leadership, charge nurse, supervisor, or department lead experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of OR operations, sterile processing, infection prevention, and patient safety.
• BLS and ACLS certifications preferred.
• CNOR certification is a plus.
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Schedule
Full-time, in-person position. Schedule may vary depending on surgical volume and operational needs.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
