Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Operations Associate to support reconciliation and account processing functions within a back-office environment. This role focuses on analyzing and resolving reconciliation breaks across securities, cash, and derivatives while ensuring data accuracy and proper reporting. The position is based in Jersey City, NJ with a hybrid schedule (4 days onsite), and offers exposure to financial operations, data analysis, and process improvement within a structured team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Reconciliation & Analysis: Perform daily reconciliation of accounts, identify discrepancies, and research breaks across systems, clients, and institutions
Exception Management: Investigate and resolve complex exceptions, perform root cause analysis, and monitor aging of reconciliation data
Account Processing: Process client accounts and support adjustments based on reconciliation findings
Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and communicate break reports to internal teams, ensuring proper tracking and resolution
Data & Systems Utilization: Leverage tools such as Excel and internal systems (e.g., Pershing/Wealth platforms) to manage and analyze financial data
Operational Support: Assist with regulatory reporting, operational analysis, and testing of new technologies or system enhancements
Collaboration: Interact with internal teams and, when needed, external partners to resolve discrepancies and improve processes
Qualifications:
3–5 years of total work experience preferred
High School diploma or equivalent required
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Experience working with Excel for data analysis and reporting
Ability to work independently in a back-office, process-driven environment
Understanding of reconciliation processes and financial data flows
Preferred Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field
Experience in brokerage or banking operations
Familiarity with Pershing or similar financial systems
Exposure to reconciliation of securities, cash, or derivatives
Experience using AI tools to support reconciliation workflows
Knowledge of quality and performance management (sampling, precision/recall, process optimization)
