About the team

Our Operations Process and Technology Improvement (OPTI) group supports the Operations division to deliver solutions required to manage the real time power system and prepare for an increasingly electrified future: https://www.transpower.co.nz/system-operator/our-system-operator-role

The group plays an essential role in proactively identifying the critical capabilities, skills, resources, and support needed to meet current and future operational needs. They are working to optimise planning and investment decisions across key tools and processes (including SCADA applications, market systems, real time systems, and real time asset management technologies) utilised by our control rooms and other areas of Transpower.

The OPTI Capability and Capital Planning team creates and maintains a relevant capability model and the assessment of the maturity level for Operations agreed by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The team maintains the capability roadmap, a forward looking workplan across Operations, working closely with our information Services and Technology division, to have a joined-up investment plan to deliver the long-term business outcomes for the division.

The opportunity

In this new role, supporting the Capability and Capital Planning Manager, you'll contribute to the creation and maintenance of a relevant capability model for the Operations capability and capital plan. You'll provide capability modelling and planning analysis across the division and the transmission systems portfolio, driving a capability uplift roadmap to develop and mature the capabilities required to meet both present and future business needs.

You'll also contribute to ongoing delivery and improvement of operational performance.

What will you bring?

With at least three years of experience engaging a broad range of stakeholders, along with expertise in planning, scheduling and analysis in complex organisations, you'll be known for your problem-solving and decision-making skills!

Understanding of business architecture and process architecture.

Demonstrated ability to plan and schedule portfolios of work across multiple stakeholders and groups.

Outstanding written and verbal communication and relationship management skills.

A commitment to delivering high-quality products/services and continuous improvement.

A relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience.

While not essential, familiarity with EPRI Utility Business Capability model would be an advantage.
