Full job description

Ready for a role where you can lead, grow, and actually enjoy your work?

Do you want to work for a plumbing business that values family time, supports career progression, and knows how to have a laugh while getting things done?

Want to bring your operations experience into a role where you’ll have real ownership, autonomy, and the chance to make a massive impact?

If you're nodding, then this might be your next big move.

About Us

At O’Brien Plumbing North Wollongong, we’re a locally owned business backed by a national brand. We handle everything from residential maintenance to large commercial projects, and we’ve built a name our clients trust for quality, reliability, and top service.

We already have an Operations Manager on board — but with continued business growth, we’re looking for another experienced Operations Manager to help lead our team, drive performance, and ensure every job runs like clockwork.

This is a senior leadership role, ideal for someone who’s confident managing people, projects, and performance in a fast-paced trade environment.

About the Role

This is not a stepping-stone role — we’re looking for an experienced operator who can hit the ground running and take charge.

Your responsibilities will include:

Overseeing day-to-day job scheduling, technician coordination, and resource planning

Managing job timelines, budgets, and client expectations across residential, commercial, and project work

Leading a team of tradespeople, apprentices, and admin staff with clear communication and support

Working closely with the Director and fellow Operations Manager to improve systems and scale the business

Ensuring compliance with WHS, quality control, and company processes

Managing materials, suppliers, subcontractors, and project handovers

Supporting quoting, job tracking, invoicing and reporting

What You’ll Need to Bring:

Proven experience in operations management within plumbing, construction, or a similar trade/service environment

Strong leadership and communication skills

Experience with scheduling, budgeting, and project management

Confidence using systems like simPRO (or similar job management software)

A proactive mindset and a focus on quality, safety, and customer satisfaction

The ability to juggle multiple moving parts without dropping the ball

Bonus Points For:

Plumbing trade background (even if you’re now off the tools)

Knowledge of WHS requirements and reporting

Ability to mentor and motivate others in a fast-paced, high-performing team
