ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at our Wangara office, where you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and driving the successful delivery of our projects, focusing on Civil and Infrastructure scopes. This leadership position is responsible for leading and managing an operational business unit to deliver sustainable growth. This includes identifying prospects, developing opportunities and applying operational excellence to successfully execute tenders and projects. This role involves strategic planning, financial oversight, client management, and leadership of operational teams to achieve business objectives while maintaining safety, quality, industrial relations and compliance standards.

This role is accountable for meeting revenue and profit targets for the business unit and requires taking a lead role in the development of client relationships, business development and pre-contracts activity to ensure these targets are met and exceeded.

You will work closely with project managers, field teams, and senior leadership to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and maintain our commitment to quality and compliance across multiple sites.

Other key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Oversee daily operations across multiple construction projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project timelines and budgets.
Manage and lead project teams, including project managers, engineers, and field personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Provide leadership and mentoring to project teams, fostering professional development, team cohesion, and a high-performance culture.
Develop and implement operational strategies to improve productivity, resource utilisation, and cost-efficiency across projects.
Monitor project performance and provide regular reporting to senior leadership on progress, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and internal policies, including HSE and quality standards.
Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships and address operational issues promptly.
Contribute to tender preparation and business development, leveraging operational insights to support successful bids and secure future project work.
Support workforce planning and mobilisation, ensuring the right resources are in place to meet project demands.
Drive innovation and process improvements, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and adopt best practices.
To be successful, you will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

15+ years of experience in a senior leadership position within operations or project delivery.
7+ years of on-site project experience, ideally within the Defence sector working on Civil Construction scopes.
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. Bachelor of Civil Engineering).
Cert IV Leadership and Development (desirable).
Ability to obtain and maintain NV1 security clearance (essential).
Australian Defence background is desirable.
MUST hold full Australian working rights.
