Operations Software Engineer (Post-Trade Systems) - Python / Java
London or New York
A leading systematic hedge fund is building out its post-trade technology platform and is looking for Operations Software Engineers to help design and develop systems that support the full trade lifecycle. This is a highly visible role where engineers work closely with Operations, Finance, Risk and Compliance teams to build robust systems that automate workflows, reduce operational risk and support the scaling of the firm’s trading infrastructure.
The team is responsible for the technology that sits behind trade capture, reconciliation, settlement and reporting, making this an ideal role is you enjoy solving complex data and workflow problems within a fast-paced trading environment. This is a greenfield build so there is lots of scope to make an impact without legacy clutter.
Responsibilities
• Design and build systems supporting the post-trade lifecycle including capture, reconciliation, settlement and reporting
• Develop technology that supports risk, treasury, P&L and regulatory reporting workflows
• Work directly with Operations and Finance teams to automate manual processes and reduce operational risk
• Build integrations with prime brokers, custodians, fund administrators and regulatory platforms
• Contribute to architecture and system design for a rapidly growing trading platform
Requirements
• 3–7+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong programming skills in Python or Java
• Experience working with SQL databases and data modelling
• Understanding of the trade lifecycle (execution, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation)
• Strong attention to detail and interest in data quality and operational robustness
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Nice to Have
• Knowledge of FIX protocol, SWIFT messaging or regulatory reporting systems
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Familiarity with data pipelines, workflow orchestration or scheduling tools
