As the Operations Supervisor at the Mount Maunganui terminal, you will hold the crucial responsibility of ensuring the safe and efficient operations of the terminal while adhering to all company policies and regulations. The role involves managing terminal operators, coordinating maintenance tasks with the site operations teams and contractors, and ensuring accurate, timely processing of customer orders. A strong focus on Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) compliance is paramount, striving to maintain high safety standards and constantly improving existing practices. You will also take charge of tracking site operations costs versus budgets and generating necessary site reports for the Operations Manager.

What You Will Be Doing

In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the day-to-day operations at the Mount Maunganui terminal, ensuring the seamless and complaint handling of bulk and packaged product movement. Your leadership will be instrumental in managing and supervising a team of terminal operators, inspiring them to uphold the highest safety standards and operational efficiency. You will collaborate closely with site operations teams and external contractors to co-ordinate maintenance tasks, working hand-in-hand with the engineering/projects team to execute planned site maintenance. Within SHEQ compliance records, you will lead efforts to drive improvements across all safety, health, and environmental metrics, utilizing the company’s software tools to keep programs and data current. Additionally, you'll contribute to fiscal stewardship by tracking operation costs versus budgets and generating insightful weekly and monthly reports for the Operations Manager to support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure that the terminal operators are managed and supervised to safely and efficiently handle all bulk and packaged product movements.

Co-ordinate maintenance tasks carried out by site operations teams and contractors and in conjunction with the engineering/projects team, manage site planned maintenance tasks.

Ensure that all customer orders are processed accurately and on a timely basis.

Lead and motivate terminal staff to continuously improve standards in all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment and strive to maintain a high safety record.

Ensure full compliance with all SHEQ, ISO and operational systems including the required updating of relevant site documentation.

Use the company SHEQ and maintenance software to the extent required to keep site programs and data up to date.

Tracking and managing site operations costs vs budgets.

Generation of site weekly and monthly reporting as specified by the Operations Manager.


Qualifications

A preference for industry-related experience and qualifications.

Good customer service and interpersonal skills.

An understanding of dangerous goods storage and handling requirements.

Strong Health and Safety mindset.

Comfortable working in a heavily regulated and structured environment.

Oversee daily operations of the terminal, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.

Stay updated with industry trends and advancements, and implement innovative solutions to enhance terminal operations.
Manage and maintain terminal equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and timely repairs.
Conduct training sessions for new and existing staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning.
Prepare and submit reports on terminal performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role within the logistics or terminal operations industry.
Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, with the ability to implement and enforce safety protocols.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a proven track record of managing and motivating teams.
Proficiency in terminal operations, including understanding of liquid storage and distribution processes.
Familiarity with industry-specific software and systems for terminal management.
Analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for work as required.
A relevant bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred
