About the Office of Children’s Guardian

We are guided by our values of integrity, trust, service, accountability, respect and empathy.

About the directorate
The Reportable Conduct Scheme requires organisations from the government and non-government sectors to respond to allegations against employees and to handle complaints about the investigation process. We may also investigate an allegation, or an entity’s handling of an allegation, if we hold significant concerns about a situation.
Our approach is to provide advice and guidance to entities investigating allegations against their employees, so that children’s rights to a safe environment are balanced with employees’ rights to a proper investigation.
In addition to overseeing investigations, our team is also required to scrutinise the systems that relevant entities have for preventing reportable conduct by employees, and handling and responding to reportable allegations or convictions involving those employees.
About the role
The purpose of this role is to provide a broad range of administrative services across the Reportable Conduct Directorate and facilitate the delivery of efficient and effective business operations.
We are seeking a motivated and resilient person to:
Deliver administrative and project support for directorate programs of work to ensure strategic and business outcomes are achieved.
Respond to and resolve complex enquiries and issues to ensure the provision of accurate information, and the timely and effective resolution of issues.
Prepare correspondence, run and analyse data reports and provide support and advice concerning data and administrative processes.
Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures, adapting processes and techniques as required, to facilitate efficient team / directorate operations in line with agency standards, policies and procedures.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders, and achieve individual and team goals by meeting KPIs, setting clear objectives, and recording outcomes.

To be successful in this role, we are seeking a person with:
Experience in providing high-level administrative support in a high-volume work environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines as well as the need to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion.
Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive issues tactfully and with sound judgement to meet deadlines that are often dependent on collaboration with more senior officers over priorities, direction and detail.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of or an ability to acquire a sound understanding of the NSW child protection system and the Reportable Conduct Scheme.
Experience with or ability to quickly acquire expertise in the Resolve database.
Employment at the Office of the Children’s Guardian is subject to the satisfactory completion of security and vetting checks.
All roles associated with the Office of the Children's Guardian are required to have a current NSW Working with Children Check.
