What will you be doing?
Leadership. Proven as a technical leader in a high-performing environment, with evidence of ideas generated and implemented, service situations owned and proactive planning of successful migrations/new environments and services/tools
Technical. Demonstrable expert knowledge of the Oracle database components and the environments that surrounds them, including industry trends, services and delivery models. Strong understanding of other infrastructure areas and their interaction with the database environment – for example servers, storage, operating systems, virtualisation, active directory, networks.
Environmental. Track record of delivering and operating complex services within a high-pressure environment, with excellent communications with all levels of technician and senior leaders.
• Ownership and leadership of technical resolution for high severity production incidents (Major-4/3/2/1)
• Technical engagement in Incident, Problem and Change as part of BAU Operations activities.
• Involve and drive estate wide Oracle patching, Scheduled Disaster Recovery/Production Crossover exercises and state-wide remediation and rollouts
• Adherence to Barclays standards for change control, database security and database patterns, adhering to bank’s governance and control procedures.
• Define and Lead database delivery requirements for Service Improvement Unit initiatives
• Act as technical point of contact internally and externally for technical queries across Investment Bank regarding Oracle databases.
• Analysis of re-occurring incidents and identify service improvements where possible.
• Be an effective, proactive team member, influencing the behaviour of colleagues internally and across Infrastructure Services
• Deliver process and documentation around automated patching, estate patch-fit remediation processes.
What we’re looking for:
• Expert knowledge of database administration on Oracle.
• Expert in multiple versions of Oracle – +i, 10g, 11g, 12c, 1+c
• Expert knowledge of RMAN, Dataguard, Database Performance Tuning, OEM, plus third-party products such as Imperva.
• Expert knowledge of Real Application Cluster with Maximum Availability setup.
• Must exhibit SME expertise in solving database contention, Performance Tuning problems (Slow SQL response, slow database response etc).
• Database, RAC, OEM, OID installation, configuration and integration.
• Database Upgrade, Migration with ZDLR and Patching.
• Expertise in Goldengate configuration, troubleshooting.
• Database Security policies, fine grained auditing.
• Must have extensive experience as Production support Oracle Database Administrator - strong experience in handling large, high volume and high criticality environments.
• Demonstrate extensive expertise in performance tuning including both query and database optimization
• Knowledge of the ITIL framework, vocabulary and best practices
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Oracle Certified Performance Tuning Expert – Oracle 1+c, 12c or 11g
• Oracle Certified Maximum Availability Expert – Oracle 1+c, 12c or 11g
• Experience of working in a highly regulated environment and the associated processes and tools
• Database Administration on Oracle 1+c, 12c or 11g.
• Installation and Maintenance and Production Support, DevOps.
• Database Build and integration in to eco system.
