Job Requirements
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operating Room Female Staff Nurse to join our healthcare team. As an Operating Room Nurse, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness, sterility, and preparedness of the operating room at all times. You will be responsible for addressing patient concerns before surgery, gathering necessary supplies, and assisting the surgical team to provide safe and efficient surgical care.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare the operating room before each surgical procedure, ensuring cleanliness, sterility, and availability of necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to create and maintain a safe and efficient environment for surgical procedures.
• Assist in positioning and preparing the patient for surgery, ensuring their safety, comfort, and proper alignment.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery, observing and documenting vital signs, and promptly reporting any significant changes to the surgical team.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures, providing necessary instruments, supplies, and medications in a timely manner.
• Maintain and enforce strict adherence to infection control protocols, including proper handling and disposal of contaminated materials.
• Assist in surgical procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and other supplies to the surgical team as needed.
• Perform sterile scrubbing and gowning, as well as gloving and draping of surgical team members.
• Monitor and manage the availability and expiration dates of surgical supplies, ensuring proper stock levels and identifying any discrepancies or shortages.
• Educate patients and their families about the surgical process, alleviating concerns and providing pre-operative instructions as necessary.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff, to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
• Adhere to ethical and professional nursing standards, maintaining patient confidentiality and respecting their rights and autonomy.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) is required.
• Proven experience as an Operating Room Nurse, preferably in a hospital or surgical center setting.
• Strong knowledge of operating room protocols, aseptic techniques, and infection control practices.
• Familiarity with surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies used in various surgical procedures.
• Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills to identify and respond to changes in patient condition during surgery.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Proficient in using and troubleshooting surgical equipment and technology.
