Job Description
Prepare and maintain the sterile field for surgical procedures.
Select and check all necessary surgical instruments and equipment before procedures.
Assist surgeons during operations by passing instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies.
Count instruments, sponges, and needles before and after surgery with circulating nurse.
Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures, supplies used, and any issues encountered.
Monitor and enforce strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to ensure smooth workflow during operations.
Handle and label surgical specimens correctly.
Assist in positioning and draping patients.
Dispose of surgical waste appropriately.
Participate in the cleaning and restocking of the operating room post-surgery.
Communicate effectively with all members of the surgical team.
Stay updated on new surgical techniques, procedures, and equipment.
