Responsibilities
The Painter Leader is a full-time position located in the Department of Homeland Security/US Coast Guard, Operational Logistics Command, Office of Base Operations, Naval Engineering, Industrial Production Facility, Portsmouth, VA
The ideal candidate will have experience leading and performing various skilled journeyman painting tasks involved in the construction, repair, maintenance, overhaul, and conversion of marine craft and vessels
Serve as a work leader receiving work assignments from a supervisor and passing them to assigned Painters while demonstrating appropriate work procedures and techniques
Check on work in progress and report status to supervisor
Select the proper abrasive according to material and procedure specifications
Prepare metal surfaces for painting by removing grease, old paint, rust, scale, etc., as necessary
Paint surfaces with various types of paint, varnish, shellac, latex, epoxy paints, lacquer, and enamel, employing brushes, spray painting equipment, or paint rolling equipment
