Location: Port-O-Call Hotel, Nanaimo, BC
Employment Type: Seasonal Part-Time (Position lasts until renovation project is completed – expected end date Summer 2026)
Port-O-Call Hotel in Nanaimo is seeking a skilled and dependable Part-Time Painter to join our renovation team on a seasonal basis. We are looking for someone with hands-on painting experience—preferably in a hotel or hospitality setting—who takes pride in quality workmanship and pays strong attention to detail.
This role will support an ongoing hotel renovation project and will work approximately 15–30 hours per week, based on project schedules and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Perform interior painting of hotel guest rooms and bathrooms
Paint interior building areas including reception, linen room, and ice machine room
Perform exterior painting including:
Exterior of guest room doors
Exterior walls
Exterior hallway floors
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming as required
Ensure all work meets safety standards and hotel quality expectations
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Follow renovation schedules and work around hotel operations as needed
Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track work orders and project tasks
Assist with general renovation and maintenance tasks as required
Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations within the facility
Conduct and complete other work relevant and required of the position
Qualifications
Proven experience in painting or renovation work
Commercial, hotel, or hospitality painting experience is a strong asset
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
Reliable, responsible, and safety-focused
Ability to commute/relocate:
Nanaimo, BC V9S 4K1: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
Painting or Maintenance: 2–3 years (preferred)
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 30 per week
