Job Description: Head of Department (HOD) - Painting Department

• Reports To: MD
• Position Overview:
• Key Responsibilities:
- Department Leadership: Lead, supervise, and manage the entire painting team, ensuring smooth operations and continuous improvements.
- Quality Control: Ensure the quality of painting is consistent, aesthetically pleasing, and free from defects, meeting both internal and customer standards.
- Innovation & Improvement: Identify and implement innovative methods, techniques, and materials for better painting results and cost-effective production.
- Equipment Management: Supervise the maintenance and operation of all painting equipment and tools, ensuring they are in excellent working condition.
- Training & Development: Train and develop staff on painting techniques, safety practices, and operational procedures. Ensure the team is well-equipped to meet production targets.
- Compliance & Safety: Maintain adherence to safety protocols and ensure the painting department follows all environmental and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments (Design, Quality, Production) to meet product specifications and deadlines.
• Qualifications and Experience:
- Education:
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Fine Arts, Painting, or related field from a recognized institute such as CPET (Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology) or similar.
- Preferred: Additional certifications in production management or manufacturing processes.
- Experience:
- Essential: At least 5-7 years of experience in a painting department or similar role within a footwear or leather manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in managing a team and leading departmental operations.
- Experience with advanced painting techniques, including spray painting, airbrush, and automated systems.
- Hands-on experience in quality control, safety protocols, and equipment management within a manufacturing setting.
• Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Expertise in color matching, coating consistency, and defect detection.
- Proficient in handling painting machinery, spray guns, and related equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to improve processes for increased efficiency.
- Strong understanding of health and safety standards in the manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
