Job Description
Security Services' mandate is the promotion of a safe and welcoming environment to enhance the well-being of students, staff, faculty and visitors, and the protection of all University property.
Reporting to the Parking & Transportation Manager, the Parking Compliance Officer is directly responsible for enforcing the University's Traffic and Parking Regulations in a fair and impartial manner. The Parking Enforcement Officer is responsible for patrolling University parking areas to ensure compliance, issuing parking citations, liasing with clients to explain parking regulations and policies,
Working as part of the Campus Security Services team, the Compliance Officer works a varied shift, on any of the seven days of the week.
Job Requirements
Abilities to:
Communicate clearly and effectively with others both verbally and in writing
Articulate clear and concise directions while under stress
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to navigate contentious or sensitive issues with discretion while maintaining a high degree of personal integrity
Use iniatitive in dealing with and resolving problems with hostile clients and in potentially dangerous situations
Perform multiple tasks concurrently and to switch priorities instanteously
Pay attention to detail and accurately record documentation and information
Ability to type 35 words per minute
Work effectively as a member of a team or alone in a culturally diverse client service oriented environment
Effectively use standard office equipment and software (e.g. MS Office)
Work a flexible shift schedule
In addition, the Parking Compliance Officer is required to:
Possess the mechanical ability to operate various devices as well as assist with preventative maintenance and minor repairs of parking equipment
Work outside in varying types of weather
Have the ability to differentiate vehicles by make, model, style, colour and plate
Carry out parking patrols on foot, by bicycle, or vehicle
Operate a motor vehicle legally and safely
Specialized Knowledge/Education:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
The following are required prior to commencement of employment and must be maintained as a condition of employment:
Valid BC Driver's Licence
Experience:
Customer service, law enforcement or bylaw enforcement background preferred.
