Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

The School of Nursing is now accepting applications for Clinical Instructor positions available in the winter term of 2026.

Instructors are responsible for teaching and supervising a group of BScN students who provide direct client care in clinical settings, work in a clinical skills and simulation lab or tutorial group setting. Tasks include but are not limited to lab demonstrations, marking and proctoring term tests and final examinations as well as evaluating assignments.

Access to a computer (no tablet/iPad/phone) with working internet to run Microsoft Teams for online meetings and instruction is required. Clinical Instructors will report to the instructor of record for their course and work under the protection of CUPE Collective Agreement 3912 – Dalhousie University. WINTER 2026:

| N2725 (Clinical Integration 2) (Experience in Peds or Mat Nursing preferred)

SIMULATION LABS : Not to exceed 67 hrs

(Weekly labs are held on Thursdays)

Two-week CLINICAL : Not to exceed 100 hrs

March 16 – 27, 2026

| N3710 (Nursing and Episodic Illness: Preventative Care and Interventions)

TUTORIALS : Not to exceed 22 hrs (Weekly tutorials are held on Thursdays)

Jan. 5 – Feb. 27, 2026

| N3715 (Clinical Integration 3) (Experience in Med/Surg and/or Mental Health Nursing required)

SIMULATION LABS : Not to exceed 58 hrs(Weekly labs are held on Wednesdays)

Jan. 5 – Feb. 27, 2026

3-Week CLINICAL : Med/Surg placement (approx. 140h)

Option A: March 2 – 20, 2026

Option B: March * – 27, 2026

4-Week CLINICAL : Med/Surg placement (approx. 180h)

March 2 – 27, 2026

1-Week Mental Health CLINICAL :

(between 40h and 60h, depending if precepted or on unit)

| N4705 (Professional Reasoning and Social Responsibility) (Experience in Community Health Nursing preferred)

TUTORIALS / COMMUNITY CLINICAL DAYS (Precepted): Not to exceed 60 hrs

2h tutorials are held on Tuesdays,

Clinical supervision Wednesdays and Thursdays from Jan. 12 to Feb. 13, 2026, precepted placements)

Feb. 23 – March 27, 2026

| N4725 (Transition to Practice)

CLINICAL (precepted placements): Not to exceed 98 hrs

Jan 12 – April 3, 2026, incl. Orientation and Skills Day in first week of winter term.

| NURS5740 (Advanced Health Assessment) – Graduate course Location: Halifax, NS

LAB ASSISTANCE : Not to exceed 64 hrs

A graduate degree as Nurse Practitioner, an active RN license with the NSCN , as well as two years of recent clinical experience is required.

Qualifications/Requirements Of Position

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, an active RN license with the NSCN , as well as two years of recent clinical experience are required. Clinical teaching experience (which may include preceptorship of staff or students) is essential. Instructors working in the lab are required to participate in SIM training sessions or workshops.

Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement
