Job Description
Miscellanea, etc is a curated vintage brand sourcing one-of-a-kind pieces for the home, with a focus on thoughtful design, accessibility, and giving well-made pieces a second life.
We are looking for a skilled contract or part-time wood furniture refinisher to work with us on a project-by-project basis. We currently have 15 furniture projects in queue, and are looking for someone experienced in refinishing vintage wood furniture with care, attention to detail, and respect for original character.
This role is ideal for someone who has hands-on experience working with solid wood and wood veneer pieces and is comfortable taking on a range of light to moderate restoration and refinishing work.
Types of pieces may include:
• Dining chairs
• Sideboards
• Dining tables
• Side tables
• Case goods and occasional furniture
Responsibilities:
• Sanding and surface prep
• Staining and color matching
• Regluing and basic structural repair
• Light to moderate wood refinishing
• Working on both solid wood and veneer pieces
• Preserving the character of vintage furniture while improving overall finish and function
Compensation
• $35 to $50/hour depending on experience and project scope.
• Open to per-project quotes for experienced candidates.
We’re looking for someone who:
• Has experience refinishing and repairing wood furniture
• Has their own tools, equipment, and workspace for completing refinishing projects
• Understands the differences between working with solid wood and veneer
• Can assess what level of refinishing is appropriate for each piece
• Has a strong eye for craftsmanship and finish quality
• Is reliable, communicative, and able to work independently
• Can take on projects on an ongoing freelance or part-time basis
