We are seeking an experienced Cook who enjoys homestyle cooking and enjoys being part of the team. In your role you will be preparing and serving breakfast and lunch for our residents and preparing their supper meal.
Whitehaven is a small 15 bedded care home for the elderly and those with dementia.
Responsibilities
• Prepare and cook a well-balanced, nutritious diet within a controlled hygienic environment
• Prepare appropriate meals for any residents on specialised diets (i.e. pureed food)
• Health & Safety requirements with particular regard to maintain a high standard of hygiene at all times in accordance with the appropriate Food Hygiene Regulations and company policy
• Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
• To be aware of the Resident's needs and dietary preferences
Typical Shifts:- 7.30am -2pm, 2 to 3 days per week, details of shift days will be confirmed later.
An up to date qualification in food hygiene is essential and preferably an NVQ2 or equivalent qualification in Catering is desirable. You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and enjoy cooking meals for our elderly clients. Your role is very important to them and they love to talk to you.
