Key Tasks,Duries and Responsibilities
Reading plans:Follow technical drawings,plans,and instructions accurately.
Fire Protection Installation:Install fire-rated boards,insulation,intumescent coatings,and apply cementitious sprays for fire protection.
Carpentry Work: Measure,cut,and fix materials as required for fire-resistant walls and ceiling linings.
Repairs and Maintenance: Repair and reinstate fire-resistant structures,including walls,ceilings,thermal and acoustic insulation,fire seals,cavity berriers, and fire-resistant ducting.
Service Reinstatement: Restore service penetrations, including HVAC,plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, and ELU cabling through fire separations.
Structural Protection: Install structural protection such as dry cladding, mineral sprays,or intumescent coatings to building frames.
Health and Safety: Adhere to strict health and safety protocols and use access equipment,such as ladders,safely.
Quality assurance and compliance recording: complete install checklists,photo records,labelling (where required), and job documentation/as- builts.
Inspection and rectification: Identify defects/non-compliance in passive fire installations and carry out rectification works.
Coordination with other trades/site team: to plan works around service penetrations and reinstatement.
Remuneration
Pay range: $31 to $37 per hour depending on experience,skills and qualifications.
Work Hours
Permanent, full-time
Minimum guaranteed work hours: 30 hours per week.
Workdays are Monday to Friday (7am- 4:30pm),with an option for half-day Fridays.
No weekend work required.
Minimum Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
You must have either(a) at least 2 years relevant experience in passive fire/fire stippong/fire-rated linings or a related contruction trade,or (b) a relevant NZQA qualification (Level 4 preferred). If you do not already hold a relevant Level 4 passive fire qualification,you must be willing to work towards it.
Ability to use a smartphone/tablet for job management apps and site reporting.
Valid drivers license.
Must have a good level of physical fitness and be comfortable working and heights.
Basic computer skills required for using management software and apps.
Ideal Candidate
Previous experience in the electrical or fire protection industry is preferred.
Self-motivated,with strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently or in a team.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Commited to maintaing high safety standards on site.
