Job Summary:
As a Pathology Lab Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the diagnostic processes within the pathology laboratory. Your responsibilities will include preparing and analyzing tissue samples, conducting laboratory tests, and ensuring the accuracy of results. You will collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to contribute to patient diagnosis and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
Sample Collection and Preparation: Collect, receive, and label specimens, ensuring proper patient identification.
Prepare tissue samples for analysis by fixing, embedding, and sectioning.
Microscopic Analysis: Operate microscopes to examine prepared slides for abnormalities or indications of disease.
Identify and classify cellular components and structures in tissue samples.
Laboratory Testing: Conduct various laboratory tests, including immunohistochemistry and special stains, as required.
Perform routine procedures such as staining and mounting slides.
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment regularly.
Ensure proper functioning of microscopes, centrifuges, and other pathology instruments.
Record Keeping: Record and document laboratory test results accurately.
Maintain comprehensive records of specimens received, tests conducted, and results obtained.
Quality Control: Participate in quality control programs to ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
Implement corrective actions as needed.
Collaboration: Collaborate with pathologists and other laboratory staff to ensure effective workflow.
Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding test results.
Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and laboratory regulations.
Comply with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of laboratory supplies and reagents.
Place orders for supplies as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a Pathology Lab Technician is preferred.
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and quality control.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording and analyzing results.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
