Central Mountain Air is a western Canadian privately owned and operated company. Central Mountain Air is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Payroll Administrator to join our team at our Calgary, AB (YYC) base.

The Payroll Administrator is responsible for full cycle payroll in accordance with all applicable federal and provincial regulations, and company policies. The Payroll Administrator also provides support to other functions within the HR, Payroll and Finance teams such as group benefits, disability management, project management, time and attendance, health and safety, employee relations, training and development, organizational committees, and reporting.

Job Responsibilities

Oversee and administer the process of semi-monthly payroll in accordance with applicable legislation and company policy and procedures

Ensure all remittances are prepared for source deductions, garnishments, RRSP, workers compensation, group fitness and all other payroll deductions are completed and remitted in a timely manner

Complete the GL for regular and off cycle payrolls and other GL work in support of the finance team

Responsible for time and attendance programs and the preparation of year end payouts

Assist with year-end reconciliation and the preparation of calendars, T4’s, TL2E’s time off entitlements, and sources deduction schedules

Ensure pay data information and approvals are complete and in adherence to scheduled cut-off;

Process payroll transactions new hires, terminations, transfers, leaves, and other applicable HR/payroll changes

Produce ROE’s and Payroll Records for employee status changes

Maintain the HRIS and regularly monitor the effectiveness of all payroll related applications

Coordinate benefits processing with HR and Payroll team to ensure that all employee benefit selections are completed in a timely manner and with company and carrier policies

Assist with disability management by verifying the administration of employee leaves including STD, LTD, WCB, Maternity/Parental and general leaves

Perform benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, auditing & approving invoices for payment, communicating benefit information to employees, conducting open enrollment

Maintain time and attendance for all staff: vacation, sick, stat holidays and banked time

Aid in administering employee benefit plans by executing initial enrolment with employees, responding to benefit inquiries and leading benefit communication

Prepare scheduled and ad-hoc reports to various levels of management, as required

Respond to all employee payroll related inquiries in a timely manner

Liaise with Government agencies and suppliers address and resolve issues relating to payroll function

Assist with the maintenance of employee personnel files including timely filing of all documents pertaining to required changes

Develop/maintain payroll controls and periodically test effectiveness

Update and create payroll, human resources and benefits processes and procedures as required

Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resources functions at the federal and provincial level

Participate in OHS and employment equity initiatives and programs

Actively promote safety and quality within the organization and department by encouraging employee participation in SMS and ensuring effective communication with all stakeholders

Comply with all SMS and safety policies, processes and standards

Other duties and projects as assigned by the CFO

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Canadian Payroll certification (Payroll Compliance Practitioner “PCP”) an asset

3 - 5 years combined human resources and payroll experience

Post-secondary education, specialization in Human Resources an asset

CHRP/CHRL designation or in pursuit of, considered an asset

Experience with Desjardin software an asset
